Project Highlights

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to replace the bridge on U.S. 158 over Hogan’s Creek, approximately 9 miles east of Reidsville.

The bridge will be replaced on existing alignment and include two 12-foot travel lanes and two 8-foot paved shoulders.

During construction, traffic will be shifted to one side of the bridge. One lane of traffic will be maintained throughout construction and temporary signals used to permit two-way vehicle movements. The side of the bridge no longer in use will be deconstructed and replaced. Traffic will then be shifted to the newly constructed partial bridge, and the other side of the bridge will be replaced. After the new bridge has been fully constructed, traffic will be open to the new bridge in its entirety.

The approximate, expected duration of construction is one year.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS

Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed. The following information explains right of way acquisition and answers questions about the process.
