Project Overview:

The proposed project (State Transportation Improvement Program Project No. BR-0090) is needed to replace a structurally deficient bridge on N.C. 561 over Fishing Creek.  The bridge, which is safe for travel but has aging components that require replacement, will be replaced in place using a temporary bridge adjacent to the existing bridge.  Construction of the temporary bridge will require use of land currently owned by the nature preserve.

Project newsletter can be viewed here.

The bridge is currently scheduled for replacement beginning in the Fall of 2025.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS

Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed.
